Last-mile lessons: getting from the airport without losing your mind

Trains beat taxis, buses beat trains, and one time a ferry beat everything.

This is a sample post — replace it with your own hard-won wisdom!

The flight is the easy part. The last five miles are where trips go sideways, so here’s our system after getting it wrong on three continents.

The rules we travel by now

  1. Look up the airport train before you land, not in the arrivals hall with 4% battery.
  2. Screenshot the route. Airport wifi is a lie.
  3. If a city has an official taxi rank, use it. The guy who approaches you inside baggage claim is never the deal he says he is.

The one exception

Sometimes the scenic option wins. The ferry from the Athens airport… okay, there isn’t one, but the point stands: check if water is involved. It’s usually the best version of the trip.
